My Big Three Year Old

These big smiles pretty much sum up the love of life that this little guy demonstrates!  We just celebrated his 3rd birthday!  There is truly never a dull moment with him and he is truly making his entrance into the "threes" known to us all!  Nate always says whoever coined the term the terrible twos had not yet had a three year old!  That has proven true with HK & Nolan and looks like Liam is not going to let us down!  He is so very opinionated and just says whatever is on his mind.  He is oh so pushing the boundary of authority in our home as well.  Yet his love of just everything is so contagious you cannot stay upset with him too long.
Above he has proudly worked one of his puzzles he got for his birthday.

He likes to run around in his new "underwears".
We pretty much talked all of July, August, and September that he would start wearing underwear on his birthday because they no longer made diapers for three year olds.  We seriously talked about this almost every day.  So come September 20th, he knew that the big boy underwear were going on and the diapers were going bye-bye.  He asked for Jake, Micky Mouse, and Batman underwear.  He got some of each and then some.  He is well stocked in the underwear department.
His birthday was on a Friday.  He had about 3 or 4 accidents between Friday and Sunday morning.  There was so much going on all weekend it was hard to be thinking about potty training.  Since a week ago Sunday morning, he has not had an accident.  He has peed and pooped in the potty every time. He has stayed dry during every nap and every night.  He even got up at 4 am one night to pee and went back to bed...all by himself.  I was honestly prepared for the biggest battle because back in June when we tried it was a disaster.  Though he knew what to do, he showed no interest all summer.  So when he pretty much just started pooping, peeing, and staying dry all on his own, I was shocked.  Thrilled to no end, but honestly surprised.  Everywhere we go he tells people that he pees in the potty.  He told the dermatologist last week and Rachel Durham when we saw her at Wal-mart.  He does so quite proudly!
So our big three year old marked his entrance into this year using the potty like a pro!  What a relief!

I also love this picture!!!  He bought this Iron Man outfit at Wal-mart with his birthday money.  He had to put it on as soon as we got home.  He stuck his chest and hands out making the sound that whatever it is he is doing makes.  On any given day, he is either Iron Man, Batman, Jake, or Mike the Knight.  On some days, he changes personalities many times.  I love to watch his imagination at work!  I am think these boys might play make believe and dress up more than HK did at their age.  It might be a toss up.  Either way, it is so entertaining to watch!

He is just getting too big!

A Liam Moment

You have special moments when one of your children says something that you want to remember forever.  You say you are going to write it down, but then you forget.
Well I am not going to forget this Liam moment!

8/24/13 - A Liam Moment
Dathan was asleep while HK and Nolan were at school.  Liam and I were eating lunch together just the two of us.  We were sitting on the bench seat at the table when Liam said, "Momma you are my best friend."
Pause for hear to melt.
Then I looked at him and said, "Ahhh buddy that is so sweet."  I leaned in to kiss him when he pulled back...

and said, "No your face is dirty."  Guess I must have had some ketchup on my face I was saving for later.  Then I laughed and replied, "You are a rotten egg."
To that Liam said, "I DON'T WANT TO BE A ROTTEN EGG!"

Liam just remember that there was a day when Mommy was your best friend and a dirty face actually bothered you!  You have such an opinion and am most of the time I am quite entertained by what comes out of your mouth!  I hope you will always have this joy and zest for life!

17 Months

I bet you thought I forgot again!
I did not!  The last week has kind of been a whirlwind and Momma just hasn't slowed down enough to sit down and type.
So here it goes buddy...only 8 days late!

17 MONTHS...
"You haves a prowbwem wif how I eats my nana?"

"Yeah...I sticks it all in togeffer.  Dats how I wike it!"

"MMMMmmmmm-Hmmmmmm"

"You shoulds twy it dat way too!"

"It makes you wanna scweeeeaaaaaammmm!"

Oh yes buddy, you shove the food in like there is no tomorrow.  I am seriously not sure at times how it all fits in without choking you.  You do enjoy your food, but you do have some picky tendencies.  I am trying to find a rhyme or reason to them.  You could live on fruit alone!!!!  Well make that fruit and pancakes!  You also do not care too much to be fed anymore.  You want to do it all yourself.  Unfortunately your independence comes with a price...more mess to clean up!

When we went to take your picture this week Nolan wanted his picture with the sign.
This was interesting because when I want to take Nolan's picture these days he usually tells me no and frowns.  I snapped a couple to humor Nolan and then stuck you up in the "picture chair".

At first you weren't too happy about this because you had been wrestling with Grampy in the floor.

BUT when Nana started making super crazy noises you turned on the charm.

You have such a wonderful, heart warming smile!
However lately you have developed quite a frown too!
That is how you show your displeasure about something...with a big frown.
I am going to capture it one day soon!

You also like a good sweet treat every once in awhile!
(chocolate cake for Grampy's birthday)

You also like to "help" whenever you are allowed.
This particular time Nolan was washing off dishes in the sink and you were putting away clean silverware.  You would grab it and put it in the drawer.

All done...you actually know where quite a few items go!
You also like to help Mommy put clean laundry from the washing machine into the dryer.
You love to help carry things...
honestly just anything where you feel like you are helping.

You like to sit in Greatie's lap.
A couple of Sundays ago when we ate dinner at our house you brought a couple of toys to Greatie.  Then you wanted her to put you in her lap.  You two sat that way until time for dinner.

I'm not sure which of you enjoyed it more?

Bubby, there are so many things I could say about you this month!
Your "babyness" is quickly disappearing.  You try to be such a big boy.  You literally want to do everything HK & Nolan do.
You are so rough and tumble or as Aunt Chloe Ann said tonight..."he is a bulldozer".
You were chasing Nolan this morning trying to tackle him to the ground.
You LOVE your milk...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
You also love your giraffe, seahorse, and paci when it's time to sleep.
Although I hate to break it to you...Mommy is trying to figure out when paci is going to have to go bye-bye.
We went swimming Friday night, and I thought you would love it.  You didn't at all.  You just wanted to be held the whole time.  Honestly...Daddy and I didn't mind.  We took turns snuggling you in the water.  On the other hand, you truly enjoyed the hot tub!
I love that when you are hungry, you get your bib and put it on.  Then you stand at your highchair and cry until I put you in it (don't really love the crying part).  At 11 am and 5 pm you start stalking me in the kitchen wanting food!
Big Boy.....Daddy & I love you so much.  You truly bring joy to our lives.  We love watching you grow, change, and develop into this fantastic little toddler!

Finding Trouble!

My little stationary guy is no longer.  He is finding new trouble everyday!

This one is his favorite.
First of all...he doesn't use his right knee to crawl.  He pushes off with his right leg to propel himself forward.  Uses the left knee and right leg.  Interesting!  Going to get some video footage of it up soon.  So he comes with his handicapped crawl from the family room into the kitchen to this spot.  Oh how tempting the strings are on the mini-blinds!
Mommy says his name quite sharply...after several rounds of that game...
He realizes it's not a game and Mommy means business!

So he crawls back to the family room to find more trouble!
"You wanna play that name game again Mommy?"

Another day...the same game...

"Say it again Mommy"
"You so funny when you say my name like that!"
"Oh now you really gettn' some tude with me Mommy!"
"Oh fine I go find me some troubles someplace else! I don't want those pankins I seen those other two get!" (notice right leg propelling)

 "Ohhhhh....dis' smells yummy!"

Another day....another game...different people...
What kind of trouble do we have here...
Who is that and what is going on over there?  They can't hide from me anymore!

Oh no they saw me!  Hmmmm...they invited me to come in and play.  They may be sorry...

 Ohhhh bright lights!

 Here I come...
(the handicap crawl again)

 Hey guys!!!!

 Ohhhh.....dis is soooo fun!

HK:  Liam!!!!!  You can't tear down our tent.  Stop it!  Moooommmyy!!!

HK:  Here Liam.  Come here and get it.  (as she lures him away from their tent)

The fun has just begun!
