Brides, Ladders, Cookies, & More

The Bride strikes again! I'm not sure the bridal entrance could get much more dramatic!?! She smells the flowers; she throws the flowers; she closes her eyes; she dance...dance...dances!
Nana is looking for a bride dress up outfit for Christmas since this is her latest obsession!

This is Nolan's nose dive he is currently famous for! Instead of moving his feet as well, he turns and nose dives towards the direction he wants to go. He has already busted his lip once, and I'm sure there will be more to come if he doesn't find a new mode of transportation besides diving!

Last weekend we helped Nana & Grampy put up their Christmas decorations. HK is all about Christmas decorations this year. She gets so excited anytime she sees them anywhere! She had to use the step ladder every time she wanted to put an ornament on the tree.

Nolan, proudly--as you can see, discovered Grampy's step ladder. He climbed the first stair and attempted the 2nd before we decided it would be better if the ladder was put away!
I was holding on just to make sure he didn't fall off backwards...or slip forwards.
No more ladder climbing for now!

HK & Nana baked some cookies, and HK served everyone.

Even Nolan...
Uhhh...I think he liked it since he couldn't shovel it in fast enough!

When Mom & Dad met up with us Sunday evening to get the kids back, HK watched the Princess Christmas DVD in the van. This was Nolan's first encounter with a TV in the van. He doesn't normally pay much attention to it in the house...but he was obviously entranced in the van!

Cruisin' Like Crazy!

Nolan is cruisin' everywhere on anything! He will walk with the walker, holding your hands, and along pretty much anything!

He likes crawling up on the bottom bed in HK's room, and then he tries to crawl up to the top.
I think his eyes are telling me to watch out...It won't be long Momma.

I definitely don't like him being up on the bed. HK put him up there the other night. I was at the kitchen sink. So I could see in the bedroom. I looked up to see HK putting him on the bed. Before I could get into the bedroom, he starts teetering backwards and falls off the bed onto the floor...his head taking the brunt of the fall. It scared me to death...and HK for that matter. Hopefully this will keep her from putting him up on the bed...at least for a little while. Yet, it still hasn't curbed his desire to be up on the bed or couch! Oh little guy...it's just all happening too fast!

Miss HK the Teacher

Everyone needs a teacher like this at home...
If you ask HK, she would say yes.
If you ask Nolan, politely putting it, he would say NO WAY JOSE!
Although I could be wrong. I think he enjoys it until he gets hurt...which is usually how things end up.

Nolan can make this little walker go pretty fast. Problem: he cannot control where the walker goes. Therefore he crashes into anything that is in his way. Then he doesn't know what to do. So today HK decided to solve his problem for him. Watch as the story unfolds...
Teaching Session #1
"Bubby you keep crashing into everything. You have to turn it. Oh here, just let me help you."

"Let's move it up there where you won't crash. No come on. Let's get up to the walker."

"Hold on and walk."

"Ohhhh Brother! I told you to turn! You crashed again!"

"Turn it like this so you won't crash!"

"Get back up..."

"Hold on..."

"Ohhhh noooo...not the table. Buuubbbyyyy! You have to turn before you crash!"
(Nolan obviously looks to HK every time he crashes now because he knows she will take care of the problem.)

"Well Bubby let's just put this away for awhile. I think that's enough walking for today. Let's play with the clock."

Teaching Session #2
"See the clock."

Nolan: "Mommy, how much longer til I get to be boss?"

Nolan decided he was done for the day with HK lessons. He found his way to his two "boy toys" that he currently has. I think he was worn out from being drug around by his sister (which is becoming a very frequent occurrence).

Teaching Session #3
Once again she just puts Nolan wherever she wants him to be...this time it's in the basket with the books. She wanted to get in with him, but I told her that there wasn't room and it would break the basket.

It's all fun and games...

until...

someone gets knocked backwards one too may times. Okay gang...let's find a new game!

Tonight Nolan had this grip on his sippy cup that was cracking me up! He was not letting it go for anything or anyone!

He also got to have quesadillas for the first time tonight. I cut them up pretty small. He seemed to enjoy it and there was no barfing or gagging which was a huge plus in my book!

Nate fixed some coffee this evening and HK was bound and determined to drink some with him. So he made her a cup of hot chocolate. She never knew the difference and thought it was great!

Teaching Session #4
Nolan loves to sing in the microphone! He actually knows what to do with the microphone. He obviously has learned this from watching his big sister! He also loves HK's piano. I got a small piece of him singing below. It was hard because everytime I would get down in the floor with the camera he would crawl over into my lap. You can hear HK echoing him. She is also playing that Nolan is Gus and she is Jacq...I guess they were the mice from Cinderella tonight.

She is definitely a teacher for him even if she doesn't realize it. I try to explain this to her every once in awhile...that she needs to make good choices so Nolan will learn how to make good choices because he watches her. That's a good reminder to myself....that is the same way HK is watching me and learning from me even when I don't realize it! Every once in awhile she shows me myself...sometimes in a good way and sometimes in an I-wish-I-could-take-it-back-moment. Whether we realize it or not...we are all teachers to someone around us. You never know when eyes, little or big, are on you!

Put 'Em to Work

Playing a bit of catch up here...
The weekend of the Resident Retreat the kids stayed in Eldorado and got a chance to spend time with both sets of grandparents.

My parents are in the process of remodeling their bathroom. I'm very glad that we grabbed Hallie Kate's tool box so she could help her Grampy work. She told Nana "We are the workers (she and Grampy) and nobody else".

Nolan even got in on some work with the tools.
Uhhh...this picture is almost as bad as me taking one of Nolan trying to crawl out of the shopping cart at Target! Supervision??? :-)

Pretty soon HK is going to be handier around the house than Nate and I either one.
All of that hard work must have worn everyone out!

I guess it wasn't all work. Nana & HK had a little time for some face painting.

Of course, Monday morning HK & Jack got to get in some playtime before we met in Mt Vernon.

Going in to the Dairy Queen at Mt Vernon. When we crossed the street Jack was carrying the doll and these two were holding hands.

We all had a treat before going our separate ways.

Jack taking care of the baby...

Nolan finally getting a lick. He tried to decide whether or not he liked it? It was soooo cold!

Thank you Nana & Grampy for keeping the kids while we were gone! We truly appreciate it!
