HK at Five

HK at Five...
These two faces are so classic HK.  She is just a nut full of energy & drama!

This series is one I can laugh at and someday she will be able to laugh at.  She is not quite at the laughing point yet.  She is still embarrassed.  We are at this fantastic spot with Sarah in Nashville.  There was this creek bed with very little water.  She was prancing around and singing.
She kept getting closer to the water and braver....reach down for a touch.  Again there is maybe a couple of inches here at the most.
 Stick the toe in...
 Now the whole foot...
 Ahhhh, both feet....
 Uhhh....whhhoooaaaaa....
 Wait a sec...what is happening...
 I can't get up!!!!  It's slippery!
Just did a complete landing on her belly and face!
The bottom was so slippery that every time she attempted to get up she kept sliding farther down and back.  She finally started to scream and cry.  Her eyes were bugging out and she yelled..."Help me.  I'm drowning."  I think that's the point I realized she couldn't get up on her own and Sarah quit snapping.  I stepped in to get her but kept slipping.  So Sarah anchored on dry land gave me her hand and I finally was able to get HK.  To say she was upset is the understatement of the year!  She ran off up the hill crying.  I ran after her to try and console her.  Four positives here and I will start with the most humane first 1) no one was hurt 2) Mommy brought an extra outfit 3) Short hair dries fast 4) We had already taken a bunch of pictures in that outfit
Mommy ran to the van for the outfit change while Sarah sat with HK.  10 minutes later we were carrying on as if nothing had happened...except she totally avoided the water!
If we tried to tell anyone the story she got very upset.  I think seeing the pictures now has helped her move on!

The rest of the morning...

I think this was an HK original pose.  This girl was cracking me up.  She was throwing poses left and right at Sarah.  I have never seen her do this for anyone taking her picture!

Grampy's Helper

All I can say is these pictures are priceless...

Most of the time my children LOVE to help...especially their grandparents.  These pictures remind me that even when it's not convenient for me for my children to "help"...let them.  It is teaching them wonderful lessons and creating priceless memories.
Another night recently HK & Nolan ran outside to help Grampy (I think he is their favorite to help because it usually means going outside).  While with him they helped the neighbor pick up her grass.  Grampy told me as they walked away, HK said...it feels so good to help people.
That is a thank you Lord moment...maybe she listens to me after all or maybe she listens more than I realize!
Note to self...don't be so quick to tell them you can do it...that you don't need their help because it's easier/faster that way.

10 months

Didn't forget about you Big Guy...in so many ways...
your size
your appetite
your smiles
your sweetness
your curiousity
Here we are in the chair once again...it has been another month!
I do remember how hot and miserable I was this time last year !
Oh and this is one of your new adorable tricks...peek-a-boo.  If I say, "where's Liam?" you put your hands up above your head.  Then you eventually pull them down over your eyes.  Then you pull them off and I squeal peek-a-boo and your face lights up the room!  I could sit and play that all afternoon with you!
If that face doesn't say it all!?!  You can't be left alone for two seconds!

That's right...that cute little smile is full of trouble!

Yes, I know you will go forward right off this recliner if I don't stop you!

Still have some serious rolls going on, but growing taller too!

And you found it.  I did pretty good getting as many pictures as I did before you found it this time.

And you are done...and off!  Thus is the name of the game as of lately!

You are officially quickly mobile.  You crawl with your left knee and right foot still.  You have mastered it quite well.  It amazes me how fast you can find trouble!  You love to follow everyone to different rooms.  During dinner one night this week I got you down while we were still eating (you had been in the high chair for quite awhile).  I was actually eating dinner and not paying attention until I heard you crying.  You went head first down the big step from the kitchen to the playroom.  Now we have to keep that door closed when you are on the loose.

How do you do this???  When you first started sitting up in bed you weren't sure how to get back down.  So you would fall asleep and just go forward.   Just so you know...we did come in and lay you down!
 This is pretty impressive!

You had your first 4th of July this past month.

You also had your first ice cream.
You are a lucky little guy...your sister was much older than you before she got her first licks!  There are perks to being the baby!

I think you might be joining your brother as a night owl.  You do fall asleep before Nolan, but man do you party hard for awhile first.  Maybe it's just knowing Nolan is over there that gives you an extra burst of excitement.  Hopefully, when school starts and we get our new schedule going this will change!  Everyone will be getting up earlier, naps cut shorter, and bedtime earlier!

Little Liam (even though I think that's an oxymoron but it sounds cute)...even though your mischievousness is ruthless, I love watching you explore.  Life is taking on a whole new meaning for you as you can explore on your own (with boundaries).  You are still such a sweet, sweet boy.  You are however becoming quite vocal with your squeals.  They are usually from the highchair because you want more!  You have had an increased appetite lately.  You do realize they only make diapers through size 6 so slow down buddy!
You still have only your bottom two teeth but your top ones will be bursting out any day now!
You LOVE swimming.
You are finally saying mamma!  I threatened to start sending you to work with Daddy if you didn't say more than Dadada all the time!
You are pulling up everywhere, all of the time.  I am waiting for you to take off cruising any day.
I pulled Nolan's 18 month summer clothes out for you and boxed your 12 month stuff up for Chaim.

Only two more months until it's been a year.   I am trying to savor your baby days buddy!
We love you!

Happy 1 Year!

It surely has not been 1 year since Nate has graduated residency and been in practice at Ferrell Hospital Family Practice!?!?!
July 19th we celebrated the official 1 year mark!
What a year it has been!  There have been ups and downs and lots of growing pains...but what an exciting year!  The practice is literally growing daily!  We are so thankful for the journey of this past year and where we are today.  Lots still to strive towards...but isn't that what life is...a journey!
And these two ladies...Kellie & Amy...what can Nate and I say except that this journey would not be complete without them!  Those three make a fantastic team!  The girls joke and say that Nate is like their little brother.  I am so thankful for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to this practice!  God definitely had a hand in bringing this team together!  Thank you Nate, Kellie, & Amy...I am so proud of what you all have done this past year!  Keep moving forward.  So glad I can be a part of this with you all!
The day of the 1 year mark, we had cake and punch in the lobby to celebrate.  HK came to help me.  Then she stayed for awhile because I usually volunteer on Tuesdays anyway.
Kellie hooked her up with some stamps, envelopes, paper, etc.  That girl thought she was super hot stuff!  She was making bills for people like crazy!  She made one for her Grampy and left it in the "mailbox".  Amy & Kellie actually mailed it to my Dad.
Then yesterday HK got this in the mail...
She about flipped out.  She thought it was the greatest thing that Grampy paid his bill.  He thought it was $10, but I told him it looks like 10 million but we would accept that as a payment!
HK put it in her "vacation fund" which was her grandparents' intention.  They knew she was saving for vacation.  This child doesn't realize it yet but she is blessed by so many people in her life.  I pray that as she grows she will come to realize all of the people that are pouring into her life!
