Family Picture Night

Just thinking or saying the words "family picture night" makes me cringe. I prefer a private photographer over somewhere like Sears and JCP, but right now finding one in Evansville that we can afford has not worked out. Being able to get all four of us to SO IL at the same time (when a hundred other things aren't going on) to something more affordable has not worked out either. So I sucked it up and made an appt at Sears. I will say the experience was much better than our last horrid one at JCP. My biggest problem is that I have such high expectations...my expectations are really my worst enemy on so many different levels! It started raining yesterday afternoon...ugghh. We were suppose to meet Nate at Sears. He ended up coming by home to help me load the kids...otherwise the rain would've wiped my hair out before we ever got there! Then of all times, Nolan chose last night to have his first episode of "Mommy clingyness". I couldn't believe it! So I spent most of the photo session out in the hall while Daddy helped inside. Anyway....here are some of the results!

I love this one! I know HK's hands aren't in the best place, but her reaction is perfect for her brother bouncing on her back!

Nate asked the ladies to stick this football in the picture with Nolan. I love it...he is so serious trying to figure out what to do with it!

Amazing...all four looking and smiling! We did the group shot first...it was a good thing too!

Another year of family pics down in the books!

MMO Party

This morning was the Halloween party for Mother's Morning Out.HK got all decked out in her Ariel outfit!

HK & Kellen

Two crazy kiddos!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Wednesday was Daddy's (Nate's) birthday!

It was also the Trunk or Treat at church. We met up with the Slaters for a fun evening.

HK actually was not scared of the clown. However, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with the giant LarryBoy and pumpkin.

The bouncy house and giant slide were by far the favorite events of the night!

Keagan & Nolan were good boys just hangin' out in their strollers. They did get to go on a hayride and a little train ride.

Larry Boy
Nolan was not quite sure what to think of Larry Boy. HK said "get me away from him". She absolutely hates anything that is in a giant costume!

HK loved the rollercoaster!

They hayride just went in circles around the parking lot, but it was fun!

Next to her brother, Kellen is HK's favorite playing buddy!

The Fam on the Hayride!

The train ride

Brooke & I got to take the kiddos on round 2 of the slide. The daddies went on round 1.
It was a very nice evening and a good time was had. They sold a hot dog, bag of chips, and canned soda for $1. The cheapest supper we have ever eaten. Maybe not Nate's ideal dinner for his birthday, but I fixed fried chicken, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, & homemade mac n cheese the night before.
When we came home Nate opened his gifts, and we had chocolate cake!
We tried...but there's our best shot.

Nolan tryin' to help open the gifts.

So he got bored and wandered back over to his new friend, the pumpkin.

Happy Birthday My Love! May we have many, many more to celebrate!

Double Trouble!

I can definitely tell that there is going to be some double trouble in the future when these two decide to go in together on something!

I found Tuesday HK putting Nolan on the couch. He LOVES it. Then yesterday I found her putting him up on the bed. I told her that she couldn't do that...too dangerous.
So I took him down.

He screamed and cried louder when I took him down than he did whenever HK was wollering him up on the bed. He was not happy that I took him down. I then stepped back to the doorway and watched the following series of events take place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

HK comforting Nolan...
"It's okay Bubby...I will put you back up here as soon as she leaves."

"Come on Bubby let's go!"---You better believe she was itching to get him back up there as much as he wanted back up.

HK: Now Mommy I am Ariel and this is Prince Eric. We are married.

HK: Ahh-aaa-ahhhhh Ahh-aaa-aahhhh (singing Ariel's song if you are familiar with it).
Nolan: If she wants me to be Prince Eric that's fine...as long as I can look at this window!

I am not sure what's going on outside the window, but both Ariel and Prince Eric are intrigued!

Then HK began fixing Nolan's hair.

Uhhhh Rachel...you definitely need to give her a few lessons. This proves my point that he will forever have TWO mothers. Nothing like a little spit in the hair to make it do what you want!

Nolan: Are you seriously letting her do this to my hair?

Nolan: I wonder if I can fit back here?

Nolan: You just wait Mommy! We will be double the energy, double the curiosity, and double the mischief!

Neither were happy when I ended this little charade because I could no longer be safety monitor!

Carvin' Pumpkins- Nolan's 1st!

Last night we carved the pumpkin. HK has been waiting for a couple of weeks to do this. We told her about the time she helped with her first pumpkin. She was not very old, and we had left our pumpkin outside until the night we carved it. The inside of it was freezing. Needless to say she did not enjoy it much. Lesson learned as parents. We bring the pumpkin in much ahead of carving time now!. It was funny to hear her retell the story. She loves to hear stories about "when she was a baby"!HK has her child's butter knife out as I would expect. If anyone is cutting something...she wants to help. Hmmm...

So I tried to get a picture of them in their matching shirts. It was not a success at all. Nolan had a gourd in his mouth, HK was laying down, Nolan was trying to get down, HK had her eyes closed, and on and on and on. However I couldn't resist this one!
Nolan is trying to escape and she is holding her butter knife in an awful precarious way with a sly look on her face! A true "halloween" snap shot!

Nolan: What in the world is going on over here?

HK: Look Bubby! It's slimy. You want to try it?

Nolan: Don't mind if I do see what all of the fuss is about over here!

Nolan: Hmmm Daddy...what do you think?

Nolan: I concur doctor...it looks pretty gooey and slimey!

HK: Now Bubby you just watch me. I will show you how to do it (as everything else in life). You stick your hand in like this...

HK: See. You just grab a bunch like this and squeeeze it. It is so squishy and gross!

Nolan: Momma, are you sure she is related to us? I think she is a few fries short of a Happy Meal!

Nolan: I said I think she's crazy for stickn' her hand in there. I won't do it!

Nolan: Ewwwww....if you insist! I will give it a try.

Nolan: Let me take a closer look before I stick my hand in any deeper. I like to assess the situation instead of diving right in.

Nolan: Here goes nooooottthhhhiiiiinnnn'!

HK: See Bubby you can do it. You're a big boy!
Nolan: This is kinda fun. Just wait until I am big enough to rub it on your face Sissy!

HK: Look at this one....it's huge!
Nolan: Wow!

Let the surgery begin!

Watchin' Daddy to know how to use her scalpel...I mean knife.

Here they are with their finished product!

Again...no real together shot!

Happy Halloween or Happy Fall or whatever!!! Just enjoy this beautiful time of year!
