I will post about HK's kindergarten graduation later.
In the mean time, I could not resist this series of pictures.
Let's just be real for a second...
There are moments that you wonder to yourself or exchange the knowing question with your spouse, "Remind me why we chose to have kids?"
This would be one of those real moments...
It was just a simple plea! One picture of us all with HK at her kindergarten graduation.
How hard could that little request be?
Many factors can determine the answer to that question.
I'll let the answer, this time, speak for itself...
Can you guess who the uncooperative party might be?
Ding Ding Ding...you got it. The one being placed firmly on the stairs.
Somehow that wasn't enough and he thinks he can slink away.
Note Liam watching carefully how to do this trick at a later date.
HK still has the fake smile in place from photo 1.
Nolan determined to slink away.
Dad losing patience.
HK same fake smile.
Liam still watching very carefully.
Mom trying to not get involved and keep Liam in place.
Nolan goes for the throwback.
Liam notes how this one works. May want to try it out!
HK same fake smile.
Dad is seconds away from jerking his tiny booty outside.
Mom inwardly pleading with Nolan.
We are most definitely drawing attention by now!
HK takes a break from fake smile.
Liam tries out the fake smile.
Mom explaining to Liam that is how we DO NOT act.
Dad tries the firm placement once more.
HK showing Liam how to fake smile.
Mom trying to give some encouraging words to Nolan.
HK's fake smile is back on.
Dad has given up.
Mom is trying to cheer everyone on to a smile...just one.
Who cares if you mean it...just smile already!
Okay...this is better
HK & Dad now have fake smiles.
Nolan's pout continues to grow.
Liam has decided it would be fun to run away at this point.
Mom...please just everyone look at the camera...that way...one second.
HK's fake smile still intact...that's some pretty good talent!
Mom & Dad are trying to smile without exasperation.
Liam has decided he will NOT look at the camera.
Nolan...you guessed it...whine/pout.
It's a wrap folks. Mom & Dad have decided that they have put on a show for everyone else long enough! No more entertaining from the Oldhams for tonight folks!
Mom looks at Dad and asks with her eyes...Are we crazy?
Dad looks back at Mom and with his eyes says...And you say you want another one?
The time it took to snap those pictures felt like a lifetime, especially when people were watching. In reality, it was probably less than a minute if not closer to 30 seconds. Yet it was so painful and bordered on embarrassing. I just wanted one simple picture.
Thankfully these moments take a back seat to
* watching our 5 year old stand up on that stage during her kindergarten graduation and show
everyone just a touch of what she has learned this year
* hearing Nolan say, "Guess what Mommy?" Smile from ear to ear and whisper in my ear, "I love you!"
* watching Liam run across the room to me and throw himself in my arms or to watch him do the same with his Daddy
Life is definitely made up of more of those moments with a good reality check thrown in often to remind us of our sinful nature and the need that we have for a Savior!
Thank you Jesus for rescuing us and for the reminders that You continually give us that we do need You!
